CEDAR PARK — Ear­lier this week while shop­ping at Academy for this grand­fa­ther’s Christ­mas gift, Nate Grimm was ap­proached by a stranger.

Tipped off by Grimm’s bleached-blond Mo­hawk — the fa­vored hair­style of many Cedar Park foot­ball play­ers — the man asked Grimm if he went to the high school.

Grimm said yes and was promptly con­grat­u­lated for the Tim­ber­wolves’ 17-7 vic­tory over Lan­caster last week in the Class 4A, Di­vi­sion II cham­pi­onship game. The two parted ways and Grimm was left to con­tinue look­ing at golf balls.

“It was really cool. I wasn’t used to it at all,” Grimm said. “It was just a cool ex­pe­ri­ence.”

A ju­nior quar­ter­back, Grimm threw 23 touch­down passes this sea­son, and he led Cedar Park with his 824 rush­ing yards. For his ef­forts, Grimm has been named to the Amer­i­can-States­man’s 2012 All-Cen­tral Texas foot­ball team as the new­comer of the year.
