Two UT play­ers sus­pended

Move comes hours af­ter report that al­leged sex­ual as­sault in­volved mem­bers of the team.

SaN aN­to­NIo — Two Longhorns foot­ball play­ers were sus­pended from the team on the eve of the Alamo Bowl by coach Mack Brown, who said Fri­day that the pair “broke team rules.”

Brown de­clined to iden­tify the sus­pended play­ers, but sources close to the team said they were backup quar­ter­back Case McCoy and line­backer Jor­dan Hicks, both ju­niors.

The sus­pen­sions oc­curred a few hours af­ter news re­ports sur­faced that San An­to­nio po­lice were in­ves­ti­gat­ing an al­leged sex­ual as­sault of a 21year-old woman early Fri­day morn­ing in a down­town ho­tel room. The re­ports iden­ti­fied sea­son. He started the reg­u­lar-sea­son fi­nale at Kansas State af­ter starter David Ash was held out be­cause of a rib in­jury. Hicks started the sea­son as Texas’ only ex­pe­ri­enced line­backer, but he suf­fered a sea­son-end­ing hip in­jury in the third game of the year, at Mis­sis­sippi.
