Bohls: I think Oregon’s shutdown corner, Jordan Poyer, could go in the first two rounds, but Texas’ Kenny Vaccaro may be the best safety in this draft. He has proven to be a versatile player who can stick with opponents’ best receivers from the nickel position. He can be a punishing tackler as well and figures to have a long NFL career after going late in the first round.
Golden: Vaccaro, whose big-hit ability and cover skills should be on display for all to see. He could sneak into the first round of the draft, along with teammate Alex Okafor.
4. Which Longhorn could have a breakout performance?
Bohls: While we have seen glimpses of his ability, freshman linebacker Peter Jinkens is poised to have a breakout game against Oregon State. He runs well and delivers big hits, leading Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz to say Jinkens “has added a little bit of spunk.”
Golden: Since this will be largely an offensive game, expect the wide receivers to take center stage. Freshman Cayleb Jones made a couple of highlight-reel plays during the regular season; look for him to be on the end on a long pass play against the Beavers.
