Texas A&M re­bounds to beat Prairie View

Kelsey Bone had 18 points and nine re­bounds and No. 24 Texas A&M de­feated Prairie View 7452 Fri­day night.

Kristi Bel­lock scored 14 points and Court­ney Walker and Karla Gil­bert scored 11 apiece for the host Ag­gies (9-4).

Bone matched her sea­son av­er­ages in points and re­bounds as the Ag­gies won in their first game since last Fri­day’s 83-74 loss to No. 5 Notre Dame in Las Ve­gas.

Texas A&M shot 54 per­cent and led 39-19 at half­time. The Ag­gies at­tempted just 3-point­ers and missed both. Prairie View (3-7) was 4 for 12 from be­hind the arc.

La­tia Wil­liams scored 14 points and JaQuan­dria Wil­liams added 11 points to lead the Pan­thers.

Illi­nois 70, No. 6 Ge­or­gia 59: Karisma Penn had 27 points and 19 re­bounds as the host Illini (7-5) stunned the Bulldogs (12-1). Guard Adri­enne God­Bold, play­ing her first game of the sea­son af­ter re­gain­ing her el­i­gi­bil­ity, and Am­ber Moore added 11 points apiece for Illi­nois. Jas­mine James and Khaal­i­dah Miller each scored 17 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Illi­nois hadn’t beaten a team ranked in the top six since a win over then-No. 5 Ge­or­gia on Jan. 2, 2000. The Bulldogs came in as one of the na­tion’s seven un­de­feated teams with a 28.1-point av­er­age mar­gin of vic­tory.

No. 7 Ken­tucky 90, Al­corn St. 23: Sa­marie Walker had 21 points and 14 re­bounds, and the host Wild­cats (11-1) al­lowed the fewest points in school his­tory in a rout of the Braves (0-9).

Illi­nois’ Karisma Penn works against Ge­or­gia’s Jas­mine Hassell on Fri­day. Penn had 27 points and 19 re­bounds in the Illini’s 70-59 win.
