Drive experience and looks are key factors

Austin American-Statesman - - D STATESMAN CARS - Continued from

1.) Range Rover Evoque- If I made a list of best-looking vehicles for 2012, this would be at the top of the list. Distinctive and elegant, the Evoque is stunning. It has all the luxury you expect from a luxury brand, but the performance is just as good. With a turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, the Evoque handles itself as good as any SUV on the road.

2.) Kia Sorento - In my review, I referred to the trifecta of carlike handling, a sport-utility view of the road and the prospect of all-wheel drive as the best parts of the Sorento. And after driving many crossovers this past year, I can say the Sorento still holds up within the segment and deserves its spot on this list.

3.) Honda CR-V - There is a reason the CR-V is near the top of sales in this category. And the 2012 model got all-new looks, without being categorized as a redesign. The refreshed looks alone warrant this ranking on the list, but the improved power and improved fuel economy further justify it.
