Coun­cil to con­sider road­way bond op­tions

The Kyle City Coun­cil could choose an al­ter­nate op­tion for a Road­way Bond Elec­tion dur­ing a coun­cil meet­ing Wed­nes­day .

The Mo­bil­ity Com­mit­tee and City Coun­cil made rec­om­men­da­tions on Dec. 20, rank­ing a va­ri­ety of op­tions to pur­sue for a Road­ways Bond Elec­tion in May.

The high­est-ranked op­tion in­cludes con­struc­tion and im­prove­ments to Bun­ton Creek Road, Burleson Road, Go­forth Road, Lehman Road and Mar­ket­place Av­enue, ac­cord­ing to the meet­ing’s agenda packet. The to­tal cost of this op­tion is $51,968,757, with the av­er­age an­nual in­crease in a home­owner’s tax bill rang­ing from $24.55 to $61.75 dur­ing a six-year pe­riod.

The low­est-ranked op­tion calls for con­struc­tion and im­prove­ments for Bun­ton Creek Road and pro­fes­sional de­sign ser­vices for Burleson Road, Lehman Road and Mar­ket­place Av­enue. This op­tion would cost $13,853,428 and raise the av­er­age home­owner’s tax bill an es­ti­mated $39.77 for year one, and $29.40 for year two of the bond, ac­cord­ing to the agenda packet.
