Sis­ters revel as Pflugerville goes to state

Chas­ing a state ti­tle, Starr Omozee fol­lows in older sib­ling’s foot­steps.

— Af­ter Starr Omozee and her Pflugerville girls bas­ket­ball team­mates beat Spring Dekaney on Satur­day to qual­ify for this week’s UIL state tour­na­ment, the Pflugerville ju­nior called her older sis­ter, Diana.

Af­ter all, who could bet­ter un­der­stand the ela­tion that Omozee felt more than her sib­ling who helped the Pan­thers reach the 2013 state tour­na­ment?

“I was su­per ex­cited, telling Diana, ‘We made it to state! We made it to state!’” Omozee said be­fore a re­cent prac­tice at Pflugerville High, “but she calmed me down quick. She let me know that we have two more games — one to make it to the fi­nal and one to win it all.”

For­ward Starr Omozee and the Pan­thers are two vic­to­ries away from a state cham­pi­onship. Pflugerville plays Fri­day night in San An­to­nio in the state semi­fi­nals.
