Jean-Charles’ double-double lifts Austin
The Austin Spurs defeated the Delaware 87ers 102-93 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Thursday night.
Orlando Johnson scored 23 points, and Charles Garcia added 22 to lead the Spurs’ attack. Johnson added five rebounds and five assists. Garcia was one rebound short of a double-double.
Livio Jean-Charles finished with a double-double for Austin, his third this year, scoring 16 points to go with a game-high 17 rebounds.
Jean-Charles also put in a spectacular defensive effort as he recorded seven blocks, the most by any Spurs player this season.
Austin (19-21) dominated the glass, outrebounding Delaware 54-39.
The 87ers (22-19) were led by Aaron Harrison, who scored 23 points. Two of his teammates had double-doubles.
Roscoe Smith had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Car- los Lopez had 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Austin led by just two after the first quarter but built a 20-point lead by halftime. A 16-3 run to start the second quarter helped the Spurs outscore Delaware 33-15 in the period.
The 87ers attempted to come back in the final quarter, sparked by a 12-0 run, but it wasn’t enough.
