5 things to know about SXSW to­day

South by South­west 2017 is here. Here are five things to know about Day Four of the con­fer­ence:

1. FBI switch: A po­ten­tial con­tro­versy was de­fused when FBI Di­rec­tor James Comey — crit­i­cized by Democrats for his ac­tions dur­ing the pres­i­den­tial cam­paign — can­celed his planned ap­pear­ance, cit­ing sched­ule con­flicts. Comey is be­ing re­placed by FBI Gen- eral Coun­sel James Baker for the 5 p.m. ses­sion at the Hil­ton Austin.

2. A ‘Veep’ conversation: As a real-world po­lit­i­cal shake-up un­folds in Washi n gton, the cast and cre­ators of the hit HBO show “Veep” — in­clud­ing star Ju­lia Louis-Drey­fus — sit down for a conversation about what the up­com­ing sea­son might look like. The ses­sion is sched­uled for 3:30 p.m. at the Austin Con­ven­tion Cen­ter.

3. Fash­ion and so­cial me­dia: In­ter­na­tion­ally known de­signer Marc Ja­cobs is sched­uled to ad­dress so­cial me­dia’s im­pact on the fash­ion de­sign world in an 11 a.m. ses­sion at the con­ven­tion cen­ter.

4. So, about that best pic­ture thing: Ch­eryl Boone Isaacs, pres­i­dent of the Academy of Mo­tion Pic­ture Arts and Sci­ences, will speak at 3:30 p.m. at the con­ven­tion cen­ter. As the third woman and first African-Amer­i­can to hold her po­si­tion, she’ll talk about the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s in­clu­sion ef­forts, among other top­ics.

5. Join the re­bel­lion: Gareth Ed­wards, di­rec­tor of “Rogue One,” the lat­est in­stall­ment in the “Star Wars” fran­chise, will give the fi­nal film key­note at 11 a.m. at the con­ven­tion cen­ter.
