NEWS FROM THE AUSTIN CAR COMMUNITY

Austin American-Statesman - - CARS -

Austin. General admission tickets are $15 for the show, which includes the cars, live music and a swap meet on premises. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 7 and 8.

“It’s the 16th annual (show) and we’ve got a great music lineup and a lot of cars coming back in from all over the country,” organizer Steve Wertheimer said. “It’s the same format and plans as last year, though this year we have a couple of new features we’re bringing in, including these vintage racing carts that were big in the ‘60s and early ‘70s across the country.”

Wertheimer said he is expecting 1,500 to 2,000 customs and hot rods to be on display at the event.

This year there will be a special raffle to benefit the family of Cindy “Crash” Raschke. Known in the Austin area for her hand-painted designs, Raschke was a fixture in the past at the Round Up and other area car events and was unexpectedly lost this year. Raffle tickets are $25 and proceeds will go to her husband to help pay for memorial expenses. The winner will receive a 1966 custom Barracuda handpainted by Raschke.
