Hutto’s top cop quits, but ques­tions re­main

Of­fi­cials stay mum on shakeup, but an­nounce hir­ing of re­place­ment.

There were more ques­tions than an­swers Fri­day when Hutto Po­lice Chief Earl Mor­ri­son re­signed, his re­place­ment was an­nounced, and city of­fi­cials de­clined to com­ment about the shakeup.

The city an­nounced in a news re­lease Fri­day morn­ing that Mor­ri­son had re­signed to “pur­sue other op­por­tu­ni­ties,” and that City Man­ager Odis Jones had ap­pointed Galve­ston As­sis­tant Po­lice Chief Byron Fran­k­land to be the new chief.
