Aug. 3, 2015: Attorney General Ken Paxton is arrested, fingerprinted and photographed at the county jail in his hometown of McKinney on three felony indictments alleging securities law violations. Aug. 27, 2015: Paxton pleads not guilty. Nov. 2, 2015: Paxton seeks to dismiss the indictments. Dec. 11, 2015: State District Judge George Gallagher upholds the charges. Paxton later appeals. April 11, 2016: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission files lawsuit accusing Paxton of securities fraud. Oct. 12, 2016: Paxton’s final appeal ends after the state’s highest criminal court declines to dismiss the charges. March 2, 2017: U.S. judge dismisses the SEC’s lawsuit against Paxton. Thursday: Gallagher agrees to prosecution request to move Paxton trial out of Collin County, rejects latest Paxton bid to dismiss charges.
