New restaurants, businesses on the way
Eateries to include Denny’s, Burger King, Cici’s Pizza; Kays Jeweler also coming.
Bastrop will soon welcome a host of new restaurants and businesses to town.
Among the new planned eats are Denny’s, Burger King and Cici’s Pizza.
The city’s economic development corporation announced last week that site plans had been approved for both Denny’s and Burger King, which are set to open on the corner of Childers Avenue and Texas 71 in the Bastrop Station shopping center. The restaurants are working through the city’s permitting process, the Bastrop Economic Development Corp. said, and there is no specific timeline for when they will open.
Cici’s Pizza should be up and running by October, its owners said. Construction is underway, and crews have already placed a sign at the Colorado Crossing Shopping Center on Loop 150, where the restaurant will be located.
Retailer Kays Jeweler is moving in to the shopping center at Texas 71 and Texas 304 near Chick-fil-A. It is expected to open in the next few months, the corporation said.
Across the street, at the Grove retail development, Seton plans to build its new medical campus with ambulatory care services and offices for primary and specialty care physicians. It is on track to open in late 2018.
The economic development corporation said a free-standing emergency room called Premier Physicians is also opening soon. It is working on site plans for its location near Shaefer Boulevard at Pecan Park.
The famed Bastrop Buc-ee’s, known for its clean restrooms and endless rows of gas pumps, is also planning to add 22 new fueling stations to the north side of the building, since its 36 pumps are always busy, city staff said. The Bastrop City Council last week approved a request to install canopy lighting over the new pump stations.
