Gra­ham turn­ing heads by us­ing head in prac­tice

Fresh­man de­fen­sive end praised for how quickly he picked up play­book.

By earn­ing his stripes, fresh­man de­fen­sive end Ta’Quon Gra­ham has re­moved one.

Since Texas be­gan prac­tic­ing last week, the team’s new­com­ers have been spot­ted with red stripes dec­o­rat­ing their hel­mets. Coach Tom Her­man pre­vi­ously ex­plained that the red stripes were in­di­ca­tors of which play­ers were “pledg­ing” to the foot­ball team. (Some Longhorns also wear black stripes on their hel­mets for video pur­poses.)

“They’re not quite mem­bers of the fam­ily yet; they’ve got to go prove it on the prac­tice field, and at some point they’ll get that stripe off,” Her­man said Fri­day.

De­fen­sive co­or­di­na­tor Todd

De­fen­sive end Ta’Quon Gra­ham, a four-star prospect from Tem­ple, is the first in­com­ing fresh­man this sea­son to prove him­self in prac­tice.
