On the skid­pad, in­struc­tors had driv­ers trace a large cir­cle in a rear-drive 86 in an ef­fort to keep the car’s left front tire on the line with­out saw­ing on the wheel. When the car reached its limit of ad­he­sion, driv­ers were en­cour­aged to get on the throt­tle to get their drift on while stay­ing on line.
