OUR TAKE Mummy bags are ideal for efficient warmth without excess weight, but the longer you spend bundled up, the more confining their streamlined fit feels. The Snooze drew praise for its wider-than-average 62-inch shoulder and 58-inch hip measurements, while still providing a slim profile and laudable warmth at a great price. “On single-digit nights in New Mexico’s Santa Fe National Forest, I appreciated the ability to tuck my knees up to my chest,” one tester says. The Snooze is also more compressible than other bags in its warmth category, and packs down to the size of a large honeydew.

THE DETAILS Despite 700-fill goose down, the bag slips under the three-pound mark thanks to vertical baffles, which use less fabric than horizontal ones. The chambers have ultralight internal mesh panels to keep down from shifting to either end, and their orientation keeps more down on top of your torso. Nitpick: Some testers loved the hood’s snug fit, while others griped they couldn’t fit a pillow.

TRAIL CRED “The nylon lining is among the softest and smoothest I’ve felt,” our tester says. “It’s like nestling into a warm cloud.” $360; 2 lbs. 15 oz.; 5¡F;
