Really dressed for the occasion

-

Sex at the Zoo — the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore’s Valentine’s Day event — was a party made for Meghan Caslin, 34. The Baldwin stay-at-home mom of 81⁄2-year-old Sean and 6-year-old Lily made no bones about how she loves to dress. “I want to say, ‘No, I don’t dress to themes,’ because I want to seem cool. But, yes, I do dress to themes,” Caslin said. “I have five or six Christmasthemed shirts … and four or five Halloween shirts. I’m a nerd.” When she attended Sex at the Zoo for the first time last year, Caslin realized she had missed a great opportunity. “I thought, ‘Of course! The theme, why didn’t I think about that?’ So this year, when I was picking out my outfit, I made a concerted effort. I definitely wanted something that alluded to the theme, not something obvious like an animal print, ” she said. So she paired textured hose that had a heart pattern with a dress that featured a fox print. However, at other times and places, Caslin leaves subtlety behind. “Around the holidays, we’ll go out and — this greatly embarrasses my husband — I’ll wear reindeer antlers,” she said with a laugh. HER STYLE: “Preppy bohemian — because I don’t go too bohemian or too preppy.” HER ENSEMBLE: Fox print on green faux-wrap dress and gray textured hose with heart pattern from modcloth.com. New York & Company black leather bow belt. Styluxe black faux suede booties with buttons and fold-over tops she’s had for a while. Orange 3-D printed necklace of organic cells from fab.com. Silver bar drop earrings and “Pride and Prejudice” book-like clutch handbag (with a peacock on the cover) from etsy.com.
