Three-star Florida wide re­ceiver Ah­marean Brown com­mit­ted to Mary­land on Satur­day, giv­ing the Terps their third com­mit­ment in the Class of 2019 just be­fore their Red-White spring game. “Thanks to Coach [DJ] Dirkin, Coach [Chris] Beatty and the en­tire coach­ing staff for be­liev­ing in me,” he wrote on Twit­ter. The Tampa, Fla., stand­out is rated the No. 70 overall wide re­ceiver prospect na­tion­ally and the No. 79 re­cruit in Florida, ac­cord­ing to the 247sports.com Composite rank­ings. He also claimed of­fers from Alabama, Michi­gan, Michi­gan State, Vir­ginia Tech and West Vir­ginia, among oth­ers. The 5-foot-10 Brown had 36 catches for 622 yards and six touch­downs and 15 car­ries for 78 yards and a touch­down as a ju­nior, ac­cord­ing to MaxPreps. Mary­land of­fered NA­TIONAL WOMEN’S SOC­CER LEAGUE: The Wash­ing­ton Spirit (1-2-0) fell 4-2 to the North Carolina Courage (3-0-0). MEN’S COL­LEGE VOL­LEY­BALL: Steven­son cap­tured the in­au­gu­ral Mid­dle At­lantic Con­fer­ence men’s ti­tle with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 win over Ar­ca­dia. The top-seeded Mus­tangs (21-8) earn a berth into the NCAA Di­vi­sion III Cham­pi­onship. COL­LEGE BASE­BALL: Tow­son Uni­ver­sity starter David Mar­riggi threw seven shutout in­nings, and Craig Al­leyne col­lected four hits to lead the Tigers to a 6-0 vic­tory over The Ci­tadel. COL­LEGE FIELD HOCKEY: Riley Don­nelly (Doylestown, Pa.), Skye Joe­griner (Gaithers­burg), Tay­lor Ma­son (Doylestown, Md.) and Reece Spann (Du­laney) signed to play for Mary­land next sea­son. WOMEN’S COL­LEGE TEN­NIS: Navy se­nior Amanda Keller was named the Pa­triot League Women’s Player of the Week for the second straight week. —
