Penn State halts Johns Hop­kins’ 7-game streak Women

Navy men edge Army, 9-8; Loy­ola women coast, 22-5

Nick Spil­lane had two goals and five as­sists and No. 14 Penn State held off a second-half rally in a 14-12 up­set vic­tory over No. 4 Johns Hop­kins in men’s lacrosse Satur­day.

The Nit­tany Lions im­proved to 8-4, 2-1 Big Ten and the Blue Jays fell to 8-3, 2-1. The loss ended a seven-game win­ning streak by Hop­kins.

Cole Wil­liams (Loy­ola Blakefield) and Pa­trick Fraser each had a hat trick for the Blue Jays.

NO. 17 NAVY 9, ARMY WEST POINT 8: Chris Hill had three goals and Ryan Wade had two to lead the vis­it­ing Mids (8-4, 7-1 Pa­triot League) past the Black Knights (5-6, 2-5).

The vic­tory se­cured a share of the Pa­triot League reg­u­lar-sea­son ti­tle for Navy.

MOUNT ST. MARY’S 15, HO­BART 14: Bren­dan McCarthy had a goal and a ca­reer-high six as­sists and the host Mount (4-8, 1-3 North­east Con­fer­ence) held off a second-half charge by the States­men (4-8, 1-3).

MAS­SACHUSETTS 8, TOW­SON 4: Red­shirt fresh­man goalie Shane Brennan had 13 saves, but the vis­it­ing Tigers (4-7, 1-2 Colo­nial Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion) fell to the Min­ute­men (8-4, 3-0).

SAL­IS­BURY 20, MARY WASH­ING­TON 10: Grif­fin Moroney had a game-high four goals and Zach Pom­pea had a hat trick as the vis­it­ing Sea Gulls (11-4, 4-1 Cap­i­tal Ath­letic Con­fer­ence) rolled past the Ea­gles (7-7, 3-3).

UMBC 5, BING­HAM­TON 2: The Re­triev­ers (4-7, 2-2 Amer­ica East) held the host Bearcats (4-9, 1-3) score­less for fi­nal 47 min­utes, 2 sec­onds.

NO. 8 LOY­OLA MARY­LAND 22, LAFAYETTE 5: Hannah Pow­ers had four goals to lead the host Greyhounds (10-3, 6-0 Pa­triot) past the Leop­ards (4-9, 1-4).

NO. 12 NAVY 20, ARMY WEST POINT 7: Jenna Collins (River Hill) had six goals to lead the Mids (11-3, 5-1 Pa­triot) past the host Black Knights (8-6, 2-4).

UMBC 16, VER­MONT 14: Carolyn Jami­son (West­min­ster) had four goals to lead the host Re­triev­ers (10-5, 2-3 Amer­ica East) past the Cata­mounts (4-10, 0-5).

WAG­NER 12, MOUNT ST. MARY’S 11: The host Sea­hawks (8-4, 3-0 NEC) scored six of the fi­nal seven goals to beat the Mount (6-6, 1-2).

SAL­IS­BURY 11, MARY WASH­ING­TON 10: Emma Skoglund scored the game-win­ner with 1:09 left to lift the host Sea Gulls (13-0, 5-0 CAC) over the Ea­gles (12-3, 5-2).
