Are computers a learning difference-maker?

-

In regard to Baltimore County Public Schools’ initiative to put tablets in every student’s hands, I would like to see research that shows the effectiveness of using so much technology with our youngest learners (“Gambling on technology in the classroom,” Dec. 1).

Available research, on closer scrutiny, usually has been conducted by the technology industry. Also lacking is any information on the success of such a venture in a school district the size of BCPS. It would be helpful to get the facts in this issue.

You get what you pay for. So what exactly are we, the taxpayers, paying for and where is the evidence of what we are getting?
