Help me stay in school

Baltimore Sun - - FROM PAGE ONE - Willis Morales, Towson

I am an eighth-grade student at Dumbarton Middle School, which does not have air conditioning (“Sweat-free schooling?” Aug. 29). Our whole school is being held back from the education provided to students at all of the middle schools in Baltimore County that have air conditioning. Every day that we are off of school because of the hot weather the other middle school students in the county are getting an education and we are not.

My education is really important to me. I am not about to just stand to the side on all of these days we don’t have school. I will protest against this new policy until it has changed and we are getting a sufficient education.

Every day that we are off school, the rest of our peers around the country are gaining knowledge that we don’t have yet will need in the years to come. Every day that we are off school, all of the other students in the other middle schools across the country are learning things we will need to learn someday. Every day we are falling farther and farther behind the other schools in the nation and the world.
