The man who had the mayor’s back

Baltimore Sun - - FROM PAGE ONE - Raymond D. Bahr, Baltimore

Thanks for Stephen H. Sachs’ and Shale D. Stiller’s commentary on Baltimore City Solicitor George A. Nilson’s accomplishments before he was fired by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (“Baltimore solicitor was too good for unjustified firing,” Aug. 26).

The decision surprised many of us because Mr. Nilson always had Mayor RawlingsBlake’s back. Count the number of 3-2 decisions from the Board of Estimates in which he demonstrated his loyalty.

We may never learned how this happened, but I cannot wait for Mr. Nilson to write a book explaining all that went on behind the scenes during those years of closed-door leadership. I expect it will be a best-seller from day one.
