Sopho­more trans­fer Gor­don Wild scored two goals to help the No. 4 Mary­land men’s soc­cer team roll to a 5-0, home-open­ing rout of Hart­ford on Mon­day night. Se­bas­tian El­ney, Ge­orge Camp­bell (McDonogh) and Jorge Calix also scored as the Terps re­bounded from a 1-1 draw at No. 16 UCLA on Fri­day night. D.J. Reeves and Eryk Wil­liamson each had two as­sists. Mary­land will host ri­val Ge­orge­town on Fri­day at 7:30 p.m. MORE MEN: Goucher was picked in the Land­mark Con­fer­ence pre­sea­son poll to fin­ish sev­enth in the eight-team league. ... Howard Com­mu­nity Col­lege is ranked 10th in the Na­tional Ju­nior Col­lege Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion Di­vi­sion III rank­ings. WOMEN: Sal­is­bury was picked to fin­ish sec­ond to Christo­pher New­port in the Cap­i­tal Ath­letic Con­fer­ence pre­sea­son poll. St. Mary’s was picked third and Frost­burg State fourth in the 10-team league.
