Give police the tools they need

Baltimore Sun - - FROM PAGE ONE - Sally Staele, Baltimore

We have so much crime in our city that it is hard for me to believe that anyone wouldn’t want the police to have greater surveillance capabilities (“State public defender’s office calls for immediate suspension of Baltimore police surveillance program,” Aug. 29).

If you say you are afraid of “Big Brother,” aren’t you even more afraid of what crime is doing to our city and its honest citizens? Many of us are suffering the effects of the city’s high crime rate while others are trying to protect the criminals.

I think the surveillance study should be completed; maybe it will help find a good way to stop the lawbreakers. They are hurting us.
