Boy, 15, charged with killing 17-year-old in Morrell Park
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with killing a fellow teenager in Morrell Park in late July, according to court records. Tarik Kelly was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of17-year-old Blake Hammond in the 2400 block of Washington Blvd. on July 28. Kelly was charged as an adult with eight counts related to the incident, court records show. He was being held without bail, according to the records. Neither he nor his family could be reached for comment. Hammond’s family also could not be reached for comment. Police responded to Morrell Park about 10:43 p.m. and found Hammond lying on his stomach, suffering from gunshot wounds. According to court records, witnesses said the shooting occurred in the middle of a conversation between the two teens. A second, unknown person fired a gun as well, the records say. Police are investigating to find the identity of the second shooter. Police also made another homicide arrest last week. Roy Clark, 36, was arrested Aug. 25 in the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Cedric Whitehead in the first block of S. Monastery St. in West Baltimore on Aug. 19. Clark was being held without bail, and is charged with first- degree murder, first-degree and second-degree assault and three gun violations.
