Man charged in killing of parents in Laurel
A 30-year-old man has been charged with killing his parents inside their home in the 9500 block of Queens Guard Court in Laurel. Craig Dennis White faces first- and second-degree murder and assault after his father, Glen White, 66, and mother Linda White, 61, were found dead Thursday evening, said Howard County police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn. Police were called to the residence around 6:15 p.m. when it was reported that the couple did not show up for a meeting. Officers found the bodies of Glen White in a bedroom and Linda White in the basement. Craig White was later found in Columbia, where he was arrested after a traffic stop, police said. He was living at the residence with his parents.
‘Serial’ prosecutor leaving attorney general’s office
Maryland Deputy Attorney General Thiru Vignarajah, a former top city prosecutor who represented the state in recent court proceedings in the “Serial” case, is leaving his post, the office confirmed. The attorney general’s office said Vignarajah will stay with the office until next month and was leaving on his own accord. The office also said it would continue to pursue an appeal of a new trial ruling for Adnan Syed, whose 2000 conviction in the death of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee was overturned in June. Reached by phone about his next move, Vignarajah said, “I will share my news when it’s appropriate to share my news.” Vignarajah joined the attorney general’s office as a deputy after the election of Attorney General Brian E. Frosh in 2014. At the time, Vignarajah was head of the Major Investigations Unit for the Baltimore state’s attorney’s office. Previously, he was a federal prosecutor with the U.S. attorney’s office in Maryland.
