Man charged in killing of par­ents in Lau­rel

A 30-year-old man has been charged with killing his par­ents in­side their home in the 9500 block of Queens Guard Court in Lau­rel. Craig Den­nis White faces first- and sec­ond-de­gree mur­der and as­sault af­ter his fa­ther, Glen White, 66, and mother Linda White, 61, were found dead Thurs­day evening, said Howard County po­lice spokes­woman Sherry Llewellyn. Po­lice were called to the res­i­dence around 6:15 p.m. when it was re­ported that the cou­ple did not show up for a meet­ing. Of­fi­cers found the bod­ies of Glen White in a bed­room and Linda White in the base­ment. Craig White was later found in Columbia, where he was ar­rested af­ter a traf­fic stop, po­lice said. He was liv­ing at the res­i­dence with his par­ents.

‘Se­rial’ pros­e­cu­tor leav­ing at­tor­ney gen­eral’s of­fice

Mary­land Deputy At­tor­ney Gen­eral Thiru Vig­nara­jah, a for­mer top city pros­e­cu­tor who rep­re­sented the state in re­cent court pro­ceed­ings in the “Se­rial” case, is leav­ing his post, the of­fice con­firmed. The at­tor­ney gen­eral’s of­fice said Vig­nara­jah will stay with the of­fice un­til next month and was leav­ing on his own ac­cord. The of­fice also said it would con­tinue to pur­sue an ap­peal of a new trial rul­ing for Ad­nan Syed, whose 2000 con­vic­tion in the death of his ex-girl­friend Hae Min Lee was over­turned in June. Reached by phone about his next move, Vig­nara­jah said, “I will share my news when it’s ap­pro­pri­ate to share my news.” Vig­nara­jah joined the at­tor­ney gen­eral’s of­fice as a deputy af­ter the elec­tion of At­tor­ney Gen­eral Brian E. Frosh in 2014. At the time, Vig­nara­jah was head of the Ma­jor In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit for the Bal­ti­more state’s at­tor­ney’s of­fice. Pre­vi­ously, he was a fed­eral pros­e­cu­tor with the U.S. at­tor­ney’s of­fice in Mary­land.
