Se­nior de­fen­sive back Billy Lewis re­turned an in­ter­cep­tion 38 yards for a touch­down to break a tie at 28 with 9:15 to play, and sopho­more run­ning back Jainard Craw­ley-Lambert ran for a 50yard touch­down with 2:15 to go to lift host Steven­son to a 42-28 vic­tory over North Carolina Wes­leyan in the Divi­sion III sea­son opener for both schools Fri­day night. Lewis fin­ished with three of the Mus­tangs’ six in­ter­cep­tions. MORE FOOT­BALL: Se­nior quar­ter­back Ryan Jones (Here­ford) had 18 car­ries for 118 yards and two touch­downs and se­nior run­ning back Con­nor Canon­ico added 70 yards on 19 car­ries and two touch­downs to lead host Sal­is­bury to a 34-18 vic­tory over Al­bright in the Divi­sion III opener for both schools. Sea Gulls sopho­more wide re­ceiver Sean Rowland had a 92-yard re­turn for a touch­down on the game’s open­ing kick­off. … Johns Hop­kins ju­nior run­ning back Ryan Cary rushed for 158 yards on 20 car­ries and tied the school record for touch­downs in a game with four as the Blue Jays, ranked No. 15 in Divi­sion III, earned a 45-29 win over Wash­ing­ton & Lee, ranked 20th in Divi­sion III, on Thurs­day night at Home­wood Field in the sea­son opener for both teams.
