Three hurt, one se­ri­ously, in N.W. Balto. house fire

Three peo­ple were hurt, in­clud­ing at least one se­ri­ously, in a fire that de­stroyed a North­west Bal­ti­more house, fire of­fi­cials said. The blaze was re­ported at 6:45 p.m., in the 4500 block of Fairview Ave. Fire­fight­ers were told that some- one was trapped in­side, and they en­tered and res­cued a wo­man. She was taken to a hospi­tal and listed in se­ri­ous con­di­tion. Two men were also in­jured at the scene, but the cause and ex­tent of their in­juries was not im­me­di­ately known. The fire, which took 20 min­utes to be ex­tin­guished, was be­lieved to have started in the kitchen, but the cause was un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion. One fam­ily was dis­placed, and a Fire De­part­ment spokesman said the house was a “to­tal loss.”
