Orioles: RHP Ubaldo Jimenez threw a two-hitter for his first complete game since 2011, 1B Chris Davis homered and drove in three runs, and the playoffcontending Orioles beat the Rays 7-3 on Monday. Jimenez struck out six, walked one and retired 25 of 26 — the lone baserunner coming on a fourth-inning walk — after giving up 1B Logan Morrison’s three-run homer in the first. Rays 3B Evan Longoria left the game after being hit in the hand with a pitch, but X-rays were negative.
Yankees: OF Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-run homer on RHPR.A. Dickey’s third pitch of the game, then added an RBI single to lead the Yankees over the Blue Jays 5-3. RHPMasahiro Tanaka (12-4) settled down after a shaky first to win his fifth straight decision as the Yankees matched their season high of being six games over .500. They are 31⁄ games out of the American League’s second wild-card spot.
Mets: RHP Bartolo Colon pitched six innings of five-hit ball and SS Matt Reynolds homered to lead the Mets to a 5-0 win over the Reds. Colon is 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his last seven starts. 3B Kelly Johnson also went deep as the Mets won for the sixth time in eight games and beat the Reds for the 12th time in a row.
Royals: Kendrys Morales and 1B Eric Hosmer both homered and OF Jarrod Dyson had three hits to help the Royals overcome three home runs from Twins 2B Brian Dozier and record an 11-5 win. Dozier has 38 homers, the most by a Twins player since Harmon Killebrew hit 41 in 1970.
Phillies: SS Freddy Galvis hit a two-run homer and the Phillies snapped a six-game losing streak by beating the fading Marlins 6-2. The Phillies’ run total was their highest since Aug. 14 and followed a 0-6 homestand in which they scored only 11. The Marlins lost their fourth straight and are 11-22 since Aug. 1.
Rockies: RHP Chad Bettis threw a two-hitter for his first career complete game, OF Carlos Gonzalez hit a grand slam and the Rockies beat the Giants 6-0.
