Bal­ti­more par­ents charged in death of 2-year-old girl

The par­ents of a 2-year-old girl who died in Au­gust after in­gest­ing methadone have been charged with man­slaugh­ter, Bal­ti­more po­lice an­nounced. Alvin Thompson, 25, and Sinead McNair, also 25, of the first block of S. Ex­eter St. were taken into cus­tody Tues­day. They also face charges in­clud­ing child abuse re­sult­ing in death, ne­glect of a mi­nor and reck­less en­dan­ger­ment. On Aug. 13, around 6 a.m., po­lice were called to the Univer­sity of Mary­land Med­i­cal Cen­ter after an un­con­scious baby had been brought in to the hos­pi­tal, po­lice said. Two-year-old Korri Thompson was re­vived and trans­ferred to the in­ten­sive-care unit, where she died Aug. 24. Po­lice said homi­cide de­tec­tives learned that Korri had in­gested methadone, caus­ing her or­gans to fail.
