Red Sox: DH David Or­tiz hit his 536th home run to tie Mickey Man­tle for 17th on base­ball’s ca­reer list, and LHP David Price al­lowed just a pair of solo homers to lead the Red Sox to a 12-2 vic­tory over the Ori­oles on Mon­day night and pro­tect their lead in the Amer­i­can League East. OF Chris Young home­red, dou­bled twice and sin­gled, and 1B Han­ley Ramirez also home­red for the Red Sox, who kept a two-game edge over the Blue Jays.

Na­tion­als: RHPMat Latos hit a solo home run and 3B An­thony Ren­don added a three-run shot as the Na­tion­als beat the Mets 8-1 to in­crease their Na­tional League East lead to 10 games. Latos, who was mak­ing his first start for the Na­tion­als af­ter sign­ing a mi­nor­league deal in June fol­low­ing his re­lease from the White Sox, left the game with one out in the fifth in­ning when he ap­peared to in­jure his right leg.

Blue Jays: The Rays and Blue Jays cleared the benches and bullpens af­ter the Jays wrapped up a 3-2 win, end­ing the skir­mish with­out throw­ing any punches. Eze­quiel Car­rera had a tiebreak­ing, pinch-hit home run in the eighth in­ning and Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer for the Jays.

A’s: OF Khris Davis and SS Mar­cus Semien hit three-run homers and the A’s matched a sea­son high with 17 hits while draw­ing 10 walks in a 16-3 rout of the Roy­als.

Reds: OF Scott Schebler hit a two-run sin­gle dur­ing a three­run first in­ning and four pitch­ers teamed up on the Reds’ sev­enth shutout since the All-Star break, 3-0 over the Brew­ers.

Tigers: OF Justin Up­ton left the Tigers’ game against the Twins in the fourth in­ning be­cause of a strained left calf. It wasn’t clear when the left fielder hurt him­self, but in the third in­ning, he tried to make a spec­tac­u­lar catch at the wall on 2B Brian Dozier’s home run.

In­di­ans: RHP Danny Salazar will be side­lined three to four weeks with a fore­arm in­jury. Salazar had an MRI in Cleve­land and was di­ag­nosed with a mild strain to his flexor mus­cu­la­ture.
