Baltimore Sun - - NATION & WORLD - — Sarah Gantz

The Maryland Institute College of Art is in the process of demolishing a three-story building at 100 Dolphin St. in Bolton Hill to make way for a new center for technologydriven artists and designers.

Construction of the five-story, 25,000square-foot building is expected to be complete in September 2017.

The building will include prototyping laboratories, seminar and presentation space, and MICA’s existing print equipment, according to a project description included in the fiscal 2017 capital budget analysis.

The state’s capital budget for fiscal 2017 includes $4 million to support design and construction. The school is expected to match state investments.

The new building is designed by Baltimore architectural firm GWWO.
