Sofia Vergara tops money list — again
It’s good to be Sofia Vergara. The 44-year-old actress took top honors Wednesday when Forbes released its list of the world’s highest-paid TV actresses of 2016. The “Modern Family” star was ranked No. 1 for the fifth year in a row, bringing in a whopping $43 million this year before management fees and taxes, which, according to the magazine, is also more than any male television actor has made.
Vergara’s multiple lucrative endorsements are responsible for her impressive earnings, including her deals with Head & Shoulders and CoverGirl.
The No. 2 spot on Forbes’ list belongs to 30-year-old Kaley Cuoco, who earned $24.5 million, mostly for her role as Penny in “The Big Bang Theory.” Cuoco has the biggest TV deal among actresses, making $1 million per episode. Last year, Vergara and Cuoco tied for the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top-five highest-paid actresses of 2016 are Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project”) with $15 million and Mariska Hargitay (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) and Ellen Pompeo (“Grey’s Anatomy”), who tied for the No. 4 spot with $14.5 million each.
But there’s a chance that Cuoco’s days on the list are numbered. Rumors have been swirling that the 10th season of “The Big Bang Theory” could be the last, as the main stars have only signed contracts through the end of this season.
