Reward offered in series of area bank robberies
The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of a suspect believed to be responsible for at least three bank robberies in the Baltimore area this month. The man, nicknamed “The Aviator” by law enforcement officials for the style of sunglasses he has worn in each of the robberies, has each time approached a teller while talking on a cellphone, then handed over a note announcing an armed robbery and demanding cash, the FBI said. Each time, the man has received cash and fled on foot. The FBI released images of the suspect on Thursday, describing him as a black man in his 40s, about 5 foot 9 and with a “salt and pepper” beard.” “He wears a baseball cap, long-sleeved shirt/ hooded sweatshirt and aviator sunglasses,” the FBI said. The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which partners with local police agencies, is handling the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 410-265-8080.
