Textron confirms 45 layoffs at Baltimore Co. facility
A Rhode Island firm that manufactures drones for the military is laying off about 4 percent of the workforce at its Baltimore County plant. Textron Systems notified 45 employees of the decision on Thursday, spokesman Matthew Colpitts wrote in an email. He attributed the move to a “change in the mix of work,” saying the cuts were necessary to maintain profitable growth in the business. Textron employs more than 1,000 people at its Baltimore County facility, once operated by AAI Corp., which Textron acquired in 2007.
