City res­i­dents in­vited to com­ment on DOJ re­port

Res­i­dents are in­vited to of­fer com­ments on the U.S. De­part­ment of Jus­tice’s in­ves­ti­ga­tion of the Bal­ti­more Po­lice De­part­ment at a ses­sion Mon­day. City Coun­cil Pres­i­dent Bernard C. “Jack” Young and Jus­tice De­part­ment of­fi­cials will host a meet­ing from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Mount Le­banon Bap­tist Church, 2812 Reis­ter­stown Road in North­west Bal­ti­more. The com­mu­nity will have the chance to dis­cuss the Jus­tice De­part­ment’s highly crit­i­cal re­port of city po­lice, re­leased in Au­gust, that doc­u­mented years of un­con­sti­tu­tional and dis­crim­i­na­tory polic­ing. Federal and city of­fi­cials are ne­go­ti­at­ing re­forms of the de­part­ment un­der a con­sent de­cree ex­pected by Novem­ber. The meet­ing will be recorded by Bal­ti­more’s pub­lic ac­cess chan­nel.
