Driver charged in crash that killed 11-year-old

A 26-year-old man has been charged with ve­hic­u­lar man­slaugh­ter in a West Bal­ti­more crash Satur­day that killed an 11-year-old girl and crit­i­cally in­jured three other chil­dren, po­lice said Mon­day. Do­minic De­wone McCoy of the 2700 block of Fred­er­ick Ave. was speed­ing and un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol while driv­ing the four chil­dren and an­other man in a 2000 Acura TL west in the 2800 block of Fred­er­ick Ave., po­lice said. The Acura crossed the dou­ble yel­low line and col­lided with an SUV about 4:30 p.m., po­lice said. Po­lice iden­ti­fied the 11-year-old girl who died as Laniera Mid­dle­ton. The other three chil­dren, an 11-year-old girl, a 9-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, re­main in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at city hos­pi­tals, po­lice said. The front-seat pas­sen­ger of the Acura, a 35-year-old man, was in­jured and taken to a hos­pi­tal, but he walked out be­fore be­ing dis­charged, po­lice said. McCoy was ar­rested at the scene with no valid driver’s li­cense, po­lice said. He was be­ing held at Cen­tral Book­ing on $1.25 mil­lion bail, ac­cord­ing to court records. No phone num­ber was listed for McCoy, and no at­tor­ney was listed for him in court records as of Mon­day af­ter­noon.
