Brett St. Martin, Mount Saint Joseph, soccer
The junior center back played a key role in three wins last week that boosted the Gaels (5-1-1) to No. 1 in The Baltimore Sun’s Top15 andinto a tie for first place in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference. Primarily a force on defense, St. Martin also had a goal and two assists in three wins. He scored the winning goal in last Wednesday’s 1-0 upset of then-No. 1 Calvert Hall, which had been No. 7 nationally. He also had an assist in a 2-1win over Archbishop Spalding and set up the first goal in a 2-0 win over John Carroll. He has two goals and two assists this fall, but has been most instrumental in Mount Saint Joseph’s posting four shutouts and allowing just five goals. ABaltimore Celtic Soccer Club veteran, St. Martin has a 4.2 GPA and is drawing attention from Division I colleges.
