Kelly Wesolowski, Hereford, cross country
In her first cross country season, the senior has simply shined. On Saturday, she won her first race, the Spiked Shoe Invitational at McDaniel, to lead the Bulls to a second-place finish behind Pennsylvania’s Strath Haven. Wesolowski covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18 minutes, 25 seconds — a course record — to claim a 37-second win over Archbishop Spalding’s Lacey Eden. On Sept. 17, at Dulaney’s Barnhart Invitational, Wesolowski finished second to lead the Bulls to the team win. It was her first cross country race. In her freshman year, she played soccer and competed in track and field, earning All-Metro second-team honors in indoor. A foot injury cost Wesolowski her sophomore soccer season.
