Af­ter Mon­day night’s pres­i­den­tial de­bate, Repub­li­can nom­i­nee Don­ald Trump com­plained that his “mi­cro­phone didn’t work” and that he was “asked the wrong ques­tions.” In re­al­ity, Mr. Trump fell on his face (“As Clin­ton builds on strong de­bate, Trump lobs at­tacks and com­plaints,” Sept. 27)

Imag­ine Pres­i­dent Franklin D. Roo­sevelt ex­plain­ing to Amer­i­can pub­lic that the “Sovi­ets got Poland, Yu­goslavia and Cze­choslo­vakia be­cause I was asked the wrong ques­tions and my mike failed at Yalta.”

OK, maybe we would pre­fer FDR over Hil­lary Clin­ton by a long shot, but that is not the choice we have be­fore us.
