Brazil­ian de­fender El­ton joins Blast

The Blast signed Brazil­ian na­tive El­ton Lexan­dro de Oliveira San­tos on Thurs­day to bol­ster its de­fense. A 31-year-old who has played pro­fes­sional out­door soc­cer, El­ton has spent the past two years in Ro­ma­nia, play­ing for Liga I’s CS Gaz Me­tan Me­dias. “El­ton is a qual­ity player with the tech­ni­cal abil­ity to come in and have an im­me­di­ate im­pact on our team and help us win games,” Blast coach Danny Kelly said in a news re­lease. The Blast also an­nounced that it will hold open try­outs Oct. 8-9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the South­east Re­gional Re­cre­ation Cen­ter on North Point Boule­vard.
