Apart­ments start to rise on for­mer Hauss­ner’s site

A new apart­ment build­ing has started ris­ing on the site of the for­mer Hauss­ner’s restau­rant in High­land­town. Garver De­vel­op­ment Co. ex­pects High­land Haus to be com­plete in about a year.

The six-story build­ing is slated to have 65 mar­ket-rate apart­ments — many of them one-bed­room units — with park­ing and re­tail. The units likely will start at about $1,350, said Peter Z. Garver, pres­i­dent at Garver De­vel­op­ment, which is work­ing with Tay­lor Prop­erty Group on the project.

Hauss­ner’s op­er­ated in the Eastern Av­enue lo­ca­tion for 73 years be­fore clos­ing in 1999. good Mar­shall Air­port in Novem­ber with daily flights from Hager­stown and Al­toona, Pa., the com­muter air­line an­nounced Thurs­day.

Ser­vice from Hager­stown Re­gional Air­port to Bal­ti­more will start Nov. 19. Ser­vice also will start that day from Al­toona-Blair County Air­port in Al­toona to Bal­ti­more. Fares start at $29 each way, and tick­ets are on sale at the air­line’s web­site, www.iFly South­ern.com.
