Slater would love to join Ripa team

Chris­tian Slater is to­tally open to one of the most highly cov­eted jobs in tele­vi­sion.

The 47-year-old ac­tor re­cently co-hosted “Live!” with Kelly Ripa, and dur­ing his ap­pear­ance on Thurs­day’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” he made it clear that he wouldn’t mind it be­com­ing a per­ma­nent gig.

“I love it, I live about, you know, six blocks away from there,” Slater told DeGeneres about the New York City set. “It’s one of the great­est jobs ever.”

Slater also had noth­ing but glow­ing things to say about 46-year-old Ripa. “I love her, she’s amaz­ing,” he gushed. As for his role on the crit­i­cally ac­claimed show “Mr. Ro­bot,” Slater said he can “ab­so­lutely han­dle both jobs.”

“I’m putting my hat in the ring, why not?” Slater said about ABC’s hunt for Ripa’s per­ma­nent co-host.

News broke on Wed­nes­day that early front-run­ner An­der­son Cooper has taken him­self out of the run­ning to be Ripa’s per­ma­nent co-host.
