Apart­ments planned for Bos­ton Street cor­ri­dor

An eight-story, 241-unit apart­ment com­plex would be the next ad­di­tion to the Bos­ton Street cor­ri­dor un­der plans Bal­ti­more-based Work­Shop De­vel­op­ment pre­sented to the city Thurs­day. The project would con­tinue the trans­for­ma­tion of the area, a one­time in­dus­trial zone that has been con­verted into shop­ping, of­fice and res­i­den­tial use. Work­Shop has the 1.3-acre site un­der con­tract and hopes to start the 20-month con­struc­tion project in Septem­ber 2017, said part­ner Neil Tucker. The Can­ton/Brew­ers Hill sub­mar­ket re­mains strong, Tucker said. Work­Shop, a part­ner in the Shops at Can­ton Cross­ing, has plans for other res­i­den­tial build­ings in Har­bor East and Brew­ers Hill. The firm’s lat­est project, sand­wiched be­tween the Broom Fac­tory and a se­nior hous­ing build­ing at 3400 Bos­ton St., would be built in a kind of neo-in­dus­trial style.
