Killing suspect dies after apparent suicide attempt
A Baltimore man accused in the killing of his girlfriend in GlenBurniediedinahospital Sunday, days after an apparent suicide attempt, Anne Arundel County police said. Da’von Markell Mullins, 22, and Kayla Yow, 18, were found shot in her home Friday evening. Yow was pronounced dead on the scene, while Mullins was in a hospital until he died, police said. Police characterized the attack as a murder-suicide and charged Mullins with murder and other counts. The two had been in a relationship, according to police. Three family members escaped the fire, which broke out shortly before 6:30 a.m. Saturday, the Maryland state fire marshal’s office said in a news release. The bodies of the victims have been taken to the chief medical examiner’s office to confirm the cause of death. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No working smoke detectors were found in the 21⁄ story wood-frame home, investigators said. Several family pets also died in the fire, which took 90 minutes for firefighters to bring under control.
