Durant, Curry lift Warriors over Suns
Kevin Durant scored 37 points, Stephen Curry added 28 and the Golden State Warriors held off the host Phoenix Suns, 106-100, on Sunday.
The Warriors (2-1) didn’t seal the victory until Curry’s two free throws with 12.9 seconds to play. Durant added a pair of free throws with seven seconds left.
T.J. Warren scored 26 points and Eric Bledsoe had 21 for the Suns (0-3), who led by as many as 13 in the first half. Tyson Chandler had 18 rebounds for Phoenix.
Former NBA player Shannon Brown and three sons of well-known fathers were among the notable picks in the 105-player Developmental League draft. Brown, a two-time champion with the Lakers who has played for eight NBA teams, was chosen in the second round by the Pistons’ affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive. The ninth overall pick was Keith Hornsby, the son of Grammy-winning musician Bruce Hornsby. Benito Santiago Jr, whose father spent two decades in the major leagues, was the 38th selection.
