Annapolis tour firm will reopen in spring after fire

Baltimore Sun - - MARYLAND WORLD -

The Annapolis building where Pirate Adventures operates caught fire Monday. Firefighters arrived about 6:30 a.m. to the Eastport neighborhood to find flames and smoke coming from the roof. Owners Mike and Emily Tomasini received a phone call from a friend informing them of a fire in the area. Pirate Adventures provides tours for families on its pirate ship from April through October. The fire brought around 60 firefighters from the city, as well as the Naval Academy and Anne Arundel County, to the 300 block of Third St. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the business, but an adjoining building also suffered smoke damage, city fire officials said. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury, department officials said. The cause of the fire remained under investigation, said Battalion Chief Aaron M. Boston, a department spokesman. Investigators were still working to determine the extent of the damage.
