Open house tonight at Sparrows Point site

Baltimore Sun - - MARYLAND -

Tradepoint Atlantic, the company redeveloping the former Sparrows Point steel mill site, will host an open house tonight. Economist Anirban Basu of Sage Policy Group will present an economic impact analysis of the proposed development. Tradepoint Atlantic bought the closed steel mill in 2014 with plans to redevelop it into an industrial campus with port, rail, logistics and light manufacturing uses. The company also intends to build a commercial center with a hotel, grocery store and other shops to serve workers as well as local residents. Tradepoint Atlantic, formerly known as Sparrows Point Terminal, is a joint venture of local firm Redwood Capital Investments and the Chicago-based liquidation and redevelopment firm Hilco. The open house is 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 1600 Sparrows Point Blvd.
