Woman killed in crash in southern Anne Arundel
A Lothian woman was killed when her car was hit by a pickup truck on Route 4 near Fisher’s Station Road in southern Anne Arundel County on Thursday afternoon, police and fire officials said. The 1:45 p.m. accident blocked all southbound traffic on Route 4 for over two hours as firefighters worked the scene. When they arrived they found the driver of the sedan trapped in the car, and it took about15 minutes to free her. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt. When she was pulled free, she went into cardiac arrest, fire spokesman Lt. Erik Kornmeyer said. Police said the victim, Sharon Marie Alderson, 55, was turning south on Route 4 from Fisher’s Station Road when her car stopped and a pickup traveling south struck her. The driver, Troy Wade, 19, of St. Leonard, suffered minor injuries, police said.
