Manning’s 4 TD passes, ‘D’ lift Giants
Eli Manning threw for four touchdowns and the defense had two interceptions and three stops on fourth downs to lead the Giants past the Eagles 28-23 on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.
Two of Manning’s touchdown passes went to Odell Beckham Jr., with the others to Roger Lewis Jr. and Sterling Shepard.
The Giants (5-3) won their third straight game. The Eagles fell to 4-4 after a 3-0 start. Lions 22, Vikings 16: Matthew Stafford threw a 28-yard scoring pass to Golden Tate in overtime. Matt Prater’s 58-yard field goal as time expired forced OT. The Lions (5-4) have won four of five. Sam Bradford went 31 of 40 for 273 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings (5-3), who lost their third in a row. Chargers 43, Titans 35: Melvin Gordon ran for a career-high 196 yards and scored the go-ahead TD on a 1-yard run, and DBs Dwight Lowery and Brandon Flowers scored on turnovers by Marcus Mariota. Gordon rushed 32 times and caught four passes for 65 yards. Colts 31, Packers 26: Jordan Todman ran back the opening kickoff 99 yards, and Frank Gore rushed for two scores. Andrew Luck shook off two interceptions to finish with 281 yards passing and a touchdown. Eli Manning, who threw four touchdown passes against the Eagles, fires in the second quarter. Ravens 21, Steelers 14: Joe Flacco threw a 95-yard TD pass to Mike Wallace as the Ravens snapped a four-game skid, their longest under John Harbaugh. The pass was the longest regular-season play from scrimmage in Ravens history. Flacco went 18-for-30 for 241 yards. The Steelers have lost three straight and fell into a tie atop the AFC North with the Ravens at 4-4. Saints 41, 49ers 23: Drew Brees (28-for-39 for 323 yards) threw two TD passes to Michael Thomas and another to Mark Ingram, who ran for 158 yards and a 75-yard score. Cowboys 35, Browns 10: Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes, Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 92 yards and scored twice and TE Jason Witten had 134 yards receiving. The Cowboys (7-1) are off to their best start since 2007. Panthers 13, Rams 10: Cam Newton persevered through five sacks to pass for 225 yards and a touchdown. Greg Olsen caught a touchdown pass and Graham Gano kicked two field goals as the Panthers (3-5) won their second straight. Dolphins 27, Jets 23: Rookie Kenyan Drake scored untouched on a 96-yard kickoff return with 5:15 left as the Dolphins (4-4) won their third in a row. The Jets (3-6) committed four personal fouls, and Ryan Fitzpatrick threw two INTs. Chiefs 19, Jaguars 14: Starting for the injured Alex Smith, Nick Foles threw for 187 yards and a touchdown while Cairo Santos kicked four field goals as the Chiefs (6-2) won their 10th consecutive home game. TE Travis Kelce was ejected after quarreling over a pass-interference no-call, then tossing a towel at the official as if it were a flag. Broncos at Raiders: Both teams were 6-2, tied with the Chiefs atop the AFC West. The Raiders were 22nd in points allowed at 25.4 per game. But the Broncos were just 27th in total offense at 326.4 yards per game and 13th in scoring at 24.3.
